![]() ![]() The Seller sent me some messages in response to questions I thought I would post.ġ. Obviously, Samsung phones and a few others are South Korea. Nearly everything is made in China/Taiwan at this point. THe FODSports in a modified Android tablet made into a dedicated GPS device. We also looked at phones vs tablets vs dedicated GPS devices. OsmAnd Maps & Navigation (openstreetmaps) Right now they are fixing some osmAnd+ bugs. My original list of apps to consider in addition to IGO and the Garmin on my Zumo.Ģ. I need the device to be very usable all of the time (my new FODSports is more usable for me than my current Zumo at 1/7th the price but with some issues) and very readable at a quick glance and all on one app/screen. It really becomes a personal needs decision. I need to know things like where every hick town gas station is and don't want to use half a dozen apps - many which need to be online. Locus is pretty good but has some limitations like the OSM which I mentioned are lacking compared to the maps I use. My Escort radar detectors have a social app as well I don't use much. I have Waze on my phone but almost never use it. I really don't ride in big cities and rarely have phone coverage in the Ozarks where I actually need a GPS and not a social app. But Basecamp cannot see the gmapsupp.img on the SD card though the edge sees it fine.We went through most of the software and hardware options currently available (including Locus Maps Pro, Waze, older Android phones (which kind of stink frankly as a GPS device - have poor visibility - although the very latest ones are much better and more expensive which I have - S9+ )) among many others pretty well and even referenced adv rider forum postings/reviews and many other expert reviews. I always pull the SD card and write directly to it when I'm putting a 2gb gmapsupp.img file on there (super fast that way). as a test I put CNAusNZ on the main device memory as gmapsupp.img and BaseCamp does see it (woohoo) but it is horribly slow (why oh why is the garmin USB so slow?). ![]() Do I need to downgrade BaseCamp back to some older version as well in order to see IMG files?ĭoes the Img file need to be on the main device rather than on the SD card for BaseCamp to see it? The IMG files I want to use are much larger than what will fit in the main memory and have to be installed on the SD card. I had to downgrade mY Mapsource back to 6.15.7 and patch then it will show many of the unlocked maps that won't show with the latest 6.16.3 version. What am I doing wrong? I've got several IMG files that work perfectly on the Edge 705 device but I have not been able to get any of them to disply in either basecamp nor Map Source. that page just doesn't look at all like the examples I've seen for patching the ms bit to 0 so it will display in basecamp. When I use Gmaptool and open the gmapsupp.img, it will display all the information but the write tab doesn't have the option for the ms bit. I've tried everything I can think of and cannot ever see a gmapsupp.img that is installed on my edge 705 and that works fine on the device. So far the only way I've been able to see any map in BaseCamp (or Map Source) is if I have the actual DVD or the MapSource version. I have BaseCamp 3.2.2 and i've tried this with and without the patched. but I have read dozens of posts and have searched quite a bit before asking this. ![]()
